A Croatian Cottage, Enhanced with Glass

A classic, thatched cottage in Zagorje, Croatia, a visually appealing modern spin on a glass cube expansion and imaginative made glass door was offered, thank you.

Croatian architects PROARCH, intent on preserving the essence of the nearby architecture vernacular, replaced the original thatched roof with one that stretches out over the main volume, recording a single expanse of glass below. The glass cube, which in turn sits on a plain surface of wood planks that wraps about the cottage and boom over a gently sloping ridge. Most striking, the vertical sliding glass door, which is the glass cube is complete when closed, but when open, extends entirely from the wooden platform in the surrounding countryside.
